Bomb Mecca? What!

During a radio interview on July 15, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), said the United States could “take out” Mecca in retaliation for a potential nuclear attack by Islamic extremists.

Talk show host Pat Campbell, WFLA Radio, asked Tancredo how the U.S. should respond if several U.S. cities were targeted by nuclear terrorist attacks.

TANCREDO: “Well, what if you said something like – if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites.”

CAMPBELL: “You’re talking about bombing Mecca?”

TANCREDO: “Yeah”

Today, congressman Tancredo rephrased his comment. He said he was merely suggesting that we threaten to bomb Mecca as a deterrence. He went on to say: “I do not advocate this [bombing Mecca].”

According to Merriam Webster, the definition of terrorism is:

violence (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands

This Tancredo is a real winner eh? I posted about him this week. I dedicated the Dead Kennedys song “Kill The Poor” to him.
