A small South Carolina parts supplier collected about $20.5 million over six years from the Pentagon for fraudulent shipping costs, including $998,798 for sending two 19-cent washers to an Army base in Texas, U.S. officials said.
This is what happens when there is absolutely no oversight of the Pentagon’s huge chunk of the U.S. discretionary budget. In 2008 the Pentagon will get 67% of the $1,075 billion budget while the remainder, 33%, will be shared by every other budget category (Education, Small Business Administration, NASA, Department of Housing, etc.).
