The hypocrisy of Sarah Palin

I’m going out on a limb here: I don’t feel that $150K is a ton of money for the clothing that Sarah Palin has been wearing on her campaign trail. Consider that a line of clothing was most likely paraded in front of her, and she just pointed to what she liked. I doubt that the price tags were ever revealed to her. Designer clothing, tailoring, make-up, shoes, etc. — these can get pricey.

However, if Palin hopes to appeal to the Joe the Plumber, and Jane the housewife (or whatever the parlance of the day may be), she cannot parade around in such pricey gear. $150,000 is more than 4 times the median salary of a plumber ($37,500). $150K is more than the average US household spends in 80 years. According to figures from the National Coalition on Health care, $150K could cover the health care for about 12, 4 person families for one year.

The $150K price tag makes a $400 dollar John Edwards haircut seem trivial. But, because hypocrisy is the cornerstone of the Republican party these days, you will never hear that from the party. They will defend this cost despite themselves.
